Kasese Humanist Primary School in Uganda: New Land Purchase Complete

Thanks to a wildly successful fundraiser with the Atheist Alliance International, all the remaining amount due has been raised and the Kasese Humanist Primary School now owns its own land.  The next step will be to build the school itself!

Here's an update I got yesterday from the school director Bwambale Robert.
Hope all is okay over there.
I am informing you that we now have total ownership of the KHPS Land and I am attaching a document that was prepared by my lawyer between the seller on one end and myself on behalf of KHPS. The seller also gave me original agreements he possessed that they made with the initial sellers of this property.
Many thanks to all the generous donors and well wishers who stood by our side as we raised the balance we have just paid off today. I salute you all for supporting the school project.
But that's not all.  Enrolment is up since last year, so it's all the more important to get larger facilities on the new land.
One good news at the school is a registered increase in child enrollment figures now at 346 students from 297 students we had at the close of last year. This I guess has been attributed to our last year's P.7 candidates performance in the final exams where all our children joined secondary school.  Ot it could be the existence of several all round educational materials, qualified staff, free computer lessons, our full engagement in games and sports and the school band to mention but a few.
So things do seem to be looking up!  But at the risk of sounding cliche, there is a lot of work ahead.  Now that land has been acquired, new buildings will need to be planned, budgeted for and financed.  Great challenges are ahead, indeed.

Here are some scanned copies of the new land agreement which seal the deal for KHPS to move to its new permanent location.

  2. Sean, Thanks for posting over the article to inform friends, donors and well wishers of KHPS about the completion of land payments.

The property is now under control of KHPS and what i intend to do in more years to come is to develop this place by drafting layout plans for the structures and other social amenities suiting a school. Among the things i have in mind to be done on this land are class room blocks, Staff quarters, Kitchen, Science Laboratory, Computer room, Main Hall, Chicken coop, Visitors Quarters,Toilets, Playground and some demonstration school gardens etc.

All the above will be done in phases depending on resources and i am keenly interested at the moment to liaise with volunteers who are good at landscaping and building planning so that i utilize this land wisely.

A big thank you to all of you out there who value and support our work!

Thanks for your comment, Kevin. I agree that it's Bwambale's perseverance that is making this a reality. Great things are accomplished with small attainable goals getting completed. There will be many more of these as we move forward with this project.
